TAPS is a public transportation system serving persons
of all ages. A fleet of over 60 vehicles operates in Grayson, Fannin,
Cooke, Montague, Clay and Wise counties. Vehicles range from 7
passenger mini vans to 33 passenger buses. The majority of TAPS vehicles
are equipped for transporting persons in wheelchairs. TAPS drivers are
trained to assist persons with special needs. All drivers receive
training in defensive driving, first aid, CPR and Passenger Assistance.
TAPS funding derives from a number of different sources; however, the
majority of the subsidy comes from the Federal Transit Administration
and through the Texas Department of Transportation.
Fares collected from riders go back into the program to help offset
operating expenses.
TAPS is governed by a fifteen member Board of Directors. Board members
represent each of the seven counties and many of the cities served by
TAPS. Board members are appointed by County Judges and Mayors.
